1st Grade

After 2 narrow losses 1st Grade fell behind early to some smart backline play to be down 7-0. The forwards were gaining the upper hand through a strong scrum and good lineout work though the team couldn't string together phase play. Quins hit back with a pushover try and then a lucky intercept to lead 14-7 at the break which wasn't a true indication of the team's dominance having dropped the ball over the line 3 times.

The 2nd half started better but again Boroondara scored first with a penalty which seemed to finally set Quins into action scoring 5 tries in the 2nd half to record a comfortable 43-10 victory. Pana Ravouvou played strongly with good support in the backs from Osea Valentini and Fonz led from up front.

2nd Grade

Harlequin seconds needed to take their new confidence from the win the previous week into a match against a struggling Boroondara. Harlequins made a fantastic start scoring their 4th bonus point try after only 18 minutes. From the first sequence of play Sam Davey broke a number of tackles and Ritchie Milne scored from the resulting ruck. From the next kick off a break out from loose forwards Blair Ashton and Edwin Lusala, who linked up with Davey and Donal O’Connell scored in the corner. Martin Richomme scored after a strong run and crashed over near the posts. Then after a great lineout drive Chris Grellis the final member of the dynamic loose forward trio, scored in the right hand corner. Boroondara had been strengthened by a number of colts and after receiving a number of penalties crashed over in the corner. After a lineout turn over Milne scored his second try for Harlequins. Harlequins then made another great break out and only meters from the try line Boroondara made a try saving intercept and their player ran the whole 99 metres to score. Tom Mills closed out the first half with a penalty. At half time Harlequins lead 30 – 12.

Harlequins started the second half strongly with Mills scoring a try after Harlequins received a number of penalties. Then Steve Carlisle scored from Andrew Blannin taking a quick tap. However Harlequins again started to give away a number of penalties and within one minute 2 players were sent to the sin bin. From the penalties and reduction of Harlequin players Boroondara were able to score. Lusala then scored after another great run. Another Harlequins player was sin binned and Boroondara scored again. Blannin made an exclusive run from number 10, after a scrum, to score. Then Harlequins had another player sin binned but then Ryan Raubenheimer scored a great solo effort try. Harlequins win 59 – 24.
