Whilst I was suffering in Italy and Greece in the warm northern hemisphere summer, Andy Corp was kind enough to take over the responsibility of herding the Quins golfing fraternity down to Cape Schanck for what sounded like an excellent day of golf. In Andy's words everyone "had a wonderful day on what is a beautiful course. In fact if we played there again, I and others would be sorely tempted to stay overnight". Well maybe we can think of that for next year. There were five groups of four and in addition to the single stableford, Andy tossed in the best stableford pair adding a little more spice to the competition.
I couldn't make head nor tail of the cards that Andy gave me but I'll take his word for it that the results for the day were as follows:

The next golf day will be held at The Dunes on Sunday 9th August. Many of you will have played The Dunes in past years but it is one of the great Mornington Peninsular courses. If the weather is fine and the wind is not too strong it will be a great day.
I have booked five hitoff slots starting at 10.40 a.m. for twenty players. We need confirmed numbers no later that 26th July. Please email or 'phone (mobile: 0408 265 586) Martin Fuggle as soon as possible to let him know whether or not you are able to attend.
The cost of the day is $55.00 and payment is to be made on the day. I have also booked four carts at $40.00 per cart. Can you please let me know if you would like one of the carts so that I can confirm the numbers to The Dunes.

Dennis Crawford Cup at Bowral Golf Club (10-11th October, 2009)
The inaugural Dennis Crawford Cup was held at the Bowral Golf Club in October last year between Sydney and Melbourne Harlequins. Melbourne Harlequins won by the closest of margins and Mike Dundee won the individual event. The weekend was a great success and many of the Quins who attended met up with people that they hadn't seen for forty or more years.
This year the event will take place on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October at the Bowral Golf Club. Details of the weekend will be made available in the coming month but please mark your diaries now and make sure that you book accommodation in advance to ensure that you do not miss out. Phillip Island Golf Club, (15th November, 2009)
As far as I know the club has not played this course before. It promises some challenging golf and a pleasant day out.
Flinders Golf Club (13th December, 2009)
We plan to finish the year at the ever popular Flinders Golf Club. After the golf we plan to have a Christmas BBQ (catered for by the Flinders Golf Club) at the club house. The Flinders Golf Club makes an ideal setting for a few drinks and a BBQ so mark your diaries to make sure that we are able to finish the year on a high note.
