Report from The Dunes
Twenty Harlequin golfers and their guests braved the inclement weather on Sunday 9th August and headed down to The Dunes for what turned out to be a great day of golf. The wind was very strong but it didn't stop some of the Harlequin stalwarts and their guests turn in some great scores. The faceless handicapper is yet to come to grips with abilities of certain members and some of the guests seemed to be playing off genuine 'burglar' handicaps.
For the first time we had separate competitions for members and guests and once we sorted out who were members and who were guests were able to allocate prizes accordingly. Your correspondent had to return to The Dunes on the following day because 'she who must be obeyed' left her handbag under her seat after having left the course after the tenth hole, no doubt to make an early entrance to the bar for a few gin and tonics.

The next golf day will be held on Sunday 15th November. I had originally planned that we play at the Philip Island Golf Club but I think the two hour plus drive is too far to play on a course that doesn't seem to be outstanding. I have therefore changed the venue to the Rosebud Country Club. This is a great venue and has a total of four courses. The club offers a variety of weekend and overnight packages and some members may wish to have a weekend away whilst playing golf with the Harlequins on the Sunday. If you wish to stay at the club then I would ask that you make your own arrangements.
We plan to finish the year at the ever popular Flinders Golf Club. After the golf we plan to have a Christmas BBQ (catered for by the Flinders Golf Club) at the club house. The Flinders Golf Club makes an ideal setting for a few drinks and a BBQ so mark your diaries to make sure that we are able to finish the year on a high note.
